Well, the job at Mackay Sugar came to an end and was made reduntant. I thought my job was rather important co-ordinating all the maintenance. Oh well, their loss when things go pear-shape, they'll put a spin on it to make it look good to the share-holders. If I sound bitter, I put a lot of extra effort in this job including uni studies to ensure improvements (which did happen)
Currently enjoying a bit of a break before starting work again, cleaned out the shed and fixed some tools, went shooting out bush for a couple of days, then spent yesterday cleaning the car. While we got muddy we at least didn't get bogged again.
Looks like I'll soon be back at (now) ALS soon doing condition monitoring. Previously at the same building when ETRS, then upstairs with Monitek, back downstairs with ETRS/Pearlstreet and now ALS Industrial. At least this is associated with my continueing studies and may lead to a site maintenance role again through ALS.
This is my birthday so I'm gonna rent some DVD's have a nice lunch followed by a trip to the dentist (that last one does seem a bit out of whack), then a nice bottle of plonk

Now 2013 already
Thought I was slack before, well here is a new high. Mind you have been pretty busy (my excuses run to completing 1 degree and starting another, at the same time starting a new job still with Mackay Sugar and taking on a training role with CWM)
Luke has moved out since last post, then moved back in with his girl then they bought their own pad and moved again. Not a day goes by where me and the missus dont miss them but at least they are close by and we catch up at least once a week for tea.
2011 was busy with life in general, got more involved with pest mitigation projects and uni. Mum passed away after a long illness.
2012 was changing roles and moving work place to Marian, finish off one degree and continue with wildlife management. A sad year with a mates son passing away suddenly, we need to love them like theres no tomorrow because for some there isnt.
2013 started off with another start at uni, more work challenges and sadly the passing away of my cousin and Aunty. Lets hope it gets better from now on. Lotto would be nice.........

I've been so slack
Boy have I been lazy, not one update since 2008. Well Luke is well along on his apprenticeship, going out with a lovely girl and giving me a run for my money at the rifle range. The dog is older and slower and sleeps all the time (I'm jealous of the sleeping bit) I have changed jobs (yet again my loving wife sighs) and back in engineering.

Lukes Last Day at School
Well the boy has now finished school (today) and he now has his own life, loves, cares, passions to follow. I guess you could say I'm pretty proud of how he has turned out and I wish all the success in whichever path he follows. He has an apprenticeship, a mechanic with aspirations for race cars - hope you get there mate.
He had the formal on Wednesday and decided to "suit-up"

Touring Canberra
I recently had the opportunity to attend a radiation safety conference at Canberra. Brrrrrrrrr. On the upside, we had dinner at Australian War Museum. Being an old jet man, got my photo taken in front of a ME262. They were pretty brave going up in those things.
Got to see the Senate in session (less said the better), wander around Parliament House (Isn't it incredible!!) and saw a protest happen in the Senate two seats in front of us. (WOW, must watch the telly tonight)

Chisolm
This is me dressed up at the national shoot a couple of years ago at Millmerrin. I was shooting "cowboy" style at the time and yes we did use real bullets at tin targets. They are replica Colt .45's hanging from the hips but shot straight'n'true.
Luke also came along, he is pretty tough sippin' on a sarsparalla.
